Desert Storm Coins Hutt River Province, New Queensland Mint - 1991
Notes: These coins were issued as "legal tender" in Hutt River Province, which is an interesting story in itself because it is a farming community that claimed sovereignty without earning permission from Australia or recognition by anybody else, including the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. They are generally $5 coins. Twelve of the coins were minted as $20 gold proofs, as well as a 46-coin $25 proof set and a 45-coin $5 set in collector album. To bring things totally on- topic, a factory boxed set of "info cards" was produced separately. Thanks much to Genny Carr for the original list and to Michael Beam, Roy Schulmeister, and JC Taylor for updates!
