Harry Potter Chocolate Frog Cards (U.K.)

Notes: Thanks much to Larry Haynes for the lists and research! The lenticular 
cards (approximately 3-1/4" x 2") issued in the U.K. evidently had three distinct 
issues. The first had 20 different cards with a single row of trademarks on the 
card backs; the second comprised 11 cards with a double row of trademarks; and 
the third release of 30 cards (excluding Fat Lady Portrait from the second series) 
with a double row of trademarks. Two colour-background variations are seen: 
"pinkish purple", the same colouring as the first two sets, or "blueish purple." 
The cards are otherwise the same, and the colour difference could have been due 
to ink choices for different print runs.

Except for the colour variant, second-series cards cannot be distinguished from 
the same cards in the third release. Card images reissued from the first series were 
found with both the single-row and double-row trademark variations, making a 
total of 51 cards and variants or 81 cards if the colour variants are considered 
separate. (Many collectors will be satisfied with a complete set of 31 named 
cards; 30 cards of the third release is often considered a complete set.)
