Pokémon Collectible Card Game (Japanese Text Version) Nintendo Inc., GameFreak Inc., Creatures Inc. - 1996
Preface: Checklist was prepared by Storm ... Many thanks!!! This is the Japanese text version, which is different from the North American version made by Wizards of the Coast. The backs are different on both versions, and the Japanese version is in Japanese language. There are foil as well as regular cards, and I will denote which are foils in the checklists. There are some gaps in this checklist, due to the language barrier. So I will be adding and revising this checklist until I know it is correct. There are 154 character cards in this set, 7 Energy Cards, and 29 Trainer Cards (could be more Trainer cards). This is edition or series one. There are currently 5 series of Japanese Pokémon Collectible Card Games. All have starter decks and booster packs. The Pokémon CCG Japanese version is extremely rare and hard to obtain. All cards are very valuable. To denote value when pricing this version versus the American version, double the value of each card using your American cards as a guide, for Japanese foils triple the value for each card. So for example, if you have a Machamp foil (American) and it is valued at approximately $7.00, then you would triple the Machamp foil (Japanese) to approximately $21.00 a card and so forth. There is also a set of Japanese Mystery CCG Card Sheets, these are a set of four cards temporarily glued face down, so you don't know what you will receive. These cards can be from all 5 series of Pokémon CCG. They can be told apart from the regular series by (1) different art, and (2) glossy card stock. These are also rare cards, and just getting a complete set would be near impossible, due to the chance factor. These should be valued very high due to the rarity of obtaining these cards. Darrell Warner (thanks!) also reports a German-text version of the same series, but we are not sure about the differences from the Japanese- and English-text versions.
