Scoop Topps - 1954
Notes: This set features color artwork on the fronts, with a "pseudo" newspaper article with headline and illustration on the backs. When originally issued, the cards had broad scratch-off bands that had to be removed to see the "secret" information on the cards. Generally the cards are considered less collectible with the scratch-off bands intact, partly because the quality of the underlying images cannot be judged after the many years. The cards were issued in two series, with half of the set in each; Series Two cards (79-156) tend to be more scarce. American Card Catalog reference is R714-19. Scans are posted at the Vintage Non-Sports Cards gallery.
