Ugly Stickers (1965)
   Topps - 1965
   A&BC Gum - 1967

Notes:  Topps produced these stickers at three (or more) different times, featuring 
artwork by Basil Wolverton and Wally Wood, among others. The 1965 series 
contains 164 tan-back stickers, most of which have four different name-variations. 
The four-variation numbers have white backgrounds, while the one-variation stickers 
have black or painted backgrounds. Neither type of cards had sticker die-cuts.

For the Topps series, the wrapper was on maroonish brown paper with a 5-cent
price. In 1967, A&BC Gum in the U.K. produced a 44-sticker tan-back set 
with the same artwork but no names. O-Pee-Chee Canada produced a set in about 
1965, reportedly with 33 numbered and named stickers, perhaps corresponding 
to the pictures included in the separate "Make Your Own Name" sticker set. 
The wrapper was similar to the U.S. edition but with both French and English 
text; packs contained 2 stickers. Rob Bosman (thanks too!) reports that another 
edition was distributed in the Netherlands in 1966 or 1967, with typical Dutch 
names replacing some of the traditional English-speaking-location names.

Dave Serrano (thanks!) discovered a series of other stickers that have the same 
pictures, but different names and no numbers. We don't know if these were meant 
to be prototypes or whether they were part of yet-another variation series. I show 
those "extra" names below in parentheses.
