X-Ray Roundup Topps - 1949
Notes: This was the first mainstream Topps set, and featured color artwork on card fronts with picture backs. Using red cellophane, a different scene would show up on the card backs. Subsets consist of 60 Figures of the Wild West, 50 Indian Chiefs, and 45 each for Pirates of the Spanish Main and Savage Tribesmen. Cards measure 7/8" x 1-7/16" and were also marketed as stamp sheets. History may be history, but it still seems offensive today to see all denizens of Africa to be considered "Savages."
